Well, there's an old expression... It takes two to tango.  Both ends of 
have link have to do a set/spider command.  Both sysops need to be a bit 
more selective with setting up links.  You need to ask yourself what is 
that link going to do TO YOU instead of FOR YOU.

Selective use of node filtering as well as hop tables to cut down on the 
sending of PC16/17s goes a long way to cutting down meaningless backbone 
traffic.
