Thanks for the answer Jim.

I've updated Perl to the latest version to see if this makes any difference
to Spider locking up. One question about Perl Package Manager - I'd not used
this before - what is the situation regarding Data Dumper? This package does
not appear in the list. Because I know nothing about PPM, I installed
Data-Dumper-Again and Spider runs, seemingly ok. Is it necessary to find
Data Dumper outwith the Package Manager or is it not absolutely required or
is the -Again package sufficient?

Hi Eric,

The answer is probably yes.  However, use the Perl Package Manager (ppm) 
that comes with Perl to load those packages, much easier than downloading.
