[Dxspider-support] BPQ32 and DXSpider (for Windows)

Hi Ron.

  I now have it working!!

My IT friend, Mark, G0LGJ, came over for Morse tuition on Monday
evening, and we re-installed that
WIN32 API file that John suggested in his zipped file SPIDERtoBPQ.ZIP
that I sent to you.

I had a reply from John, and he asked me to send my SPIDER/LOCAL
directory, which I did. He tested
it out and found one other anomaly. I told him that although I could
connect via BPQ with no problem, I
cannot disconnect. He checked it out and found the same thing. I am
sending along our mail that I have
here, so you can see the exchanges. Perhaps it will help you too.

-------------------------------------------------

That looks ok, but I see you have enabled AGW as well as BPQ. Could you
clarify exactly what you are running?

I've just tried logging on to your BBS and Spider, and both seem fine, but,
as you say, 'b' does not disconnect from Spider. I tried this on my test
Spider system, and the folloing is what appears in the Spider window:

Do you see the 'b' command, and the 'disconnected' message?

73,
John

Hi John,

Yes, the SPIDERtoBPQ files that you said would enable this to happen.
Well, I originally had the Cluster on a separate machine. I could access
the VE7CC CLuster using AXIP from the BBS
machine, but when I changed to Spider, this stopped. I then installed
your files and still could not get it to happen. So,
I decided to transfer the Cluster to the same PC as the BBS. I could not
get it to work, so I wrote to you.

However, since then, a friend came along and he re-installed WINIP 32
and after that it did work. However, I notice
that although it is quite fast in connecting. I cannot disconnect using
B for Bye or control C either. I have to type B
and wait for ages. Still, at least my RF users can now access the Cluster!

I am attaching the LOCAL directory so you can look at it and make sure
I have it configured correctly. Many thanks
for your help, and thanks for making it possible to interface Spider. I
find Spider not very user friendly I have to say!

Hi Roger,

By SPIDERtoBPQ do you mean the stuff I uploaded to the BPQ32 group Files
section? If so, what exactly was the error message you received? If you
send me the contents of your spider/local directory, I may be able to
try it here.

Regards,

John

You are now completely up to date. I don't see how John managed to save the
actual screen display of SPIDER when connecting to it. I will have to do that
in order to send my screen display to him!

Anyway, perhaps all this will help other SPIDER users and also you when doing
the upgrade to BPQ.
