[Dxspider-support] AK1A node?

Besides telnet partners, I also connect via RF to an AK1A node. Example:
W4ABC --> K4PDQ --> N4XYZ
My DXSpider is W4ABC, the other two are AK1A (K4PDQ is directly connected to me). I can issue SH/C and see the users on N4XYZ, but can't use TALK or SEND functions (nor PING).
Any ideas how to make N4XYZ appear 'local' ? BTW, this used to work but somewhere along the way things changed in the software.
