[Dxspider-support] Beginner

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the help. Right now I have a connection to HA5DI and it seems to
be working. I'd like to keep it simple to start with as I am very much
learning about this at the moment, I can imagine if I get a lot of link
partners it will seem awkward, at least for now. Perhaps I can start to make
a list and come back to you when I am ready to move forward. That now brings
me to another question. Where is the best place for me to be getting my
spots from? Given where I am I would think a link partner in JA and perhaps
another in VK would be good choices or is this an irrelevance?

Another question I have concerns passwords. I would like to set up passwords
so I can log in as sysop remotely and execute commands. Doing this at the
local terminal in a window after executing winclient.pl it says set/password
is not allowed. I guess there is somewhere else I need to put the password
first. Actually just wondering if there is documentation I have not yet
found as I have seen little about managing the cluster node. I have found
some info at wiki.dxcluster.org but it seems to relate to the linux version,
for example if I type console.pl I just get errors.

Any help or pointers appreciated.

We have just built a pc to run DX Spider and have perl, DX Spider and AGWPE
installed. All seems to be working and the program starts up pretty much as
the installation instructions suggest. Connection can be made both from a
local telnet window on the same machine and from remote clients over the
internet connection. It is planned to have one radio port serving local
users but that will be done later.

Right now I need to understand how I can connect to an internet source that
will provide the spots. What is the best what to go about this?

Many thanks,

Martin, HS0ZED
