Wow, Slackware-64
now that version will put hair in different places....
i remember those days with Jnos and IP-tunneling,

I'm running spider on Slackware-64 with no problems (after downloading the
required modules).
If you only need Date::Parse you can install it easily:
# perl -MCPAN -e 'shell'
Then, in CPAN:
install Date::Parse
