[Dxspider-support] About data

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but
  1) Some of the logging programs that use clusters do not know about passwords. If they do, they require the user to know about scripting.
  2) Users cannot set their initial password.
  3) Even if a user could set their own password, what's to stop someone from spoofing information to get started.

I'm not going to do a security check on every one requesting to connect to my node.

Kelly

But the password is only necessary if you want to send something to the network, and in the case of 'humans'... few are interested. But activating the registry would not affect the vast majority, on the contrary, we would benefit everyone except the impersonators.

I have seen octogenarians learn the minimum -against their will- to access websites and have information for their diplomas or dxpeditions.

AM didn't slow down SSB, nor did RTTY with FT8. Either you upgrade or you die.

There's a fundamental problem with forcing passwords for the DX Spider nodes. That is...

The people who will have problems with this are the same people whose VCRs are still flashing "12:00 AM".

Most of these people haven't seen a command prompt in a telnet session in their lives. The makers of the software that people use to connect will need to be updated to handle the password creation workflow.

With all the spam problems that have occurred, are there still nodes without a username/password?

mmmm... very very bad !!

Registration with username and password is ELEMENTARY and does not require any
effort.

Hi all,

From a list of 474 dxspider nodes, accessing each node I have obtained this data:

252 Active
    3 Unknown version
219 Inactive or with login error

175 are on 1.57 Mojo
  77 are on 1.55 Master

182 have no Password Registration: 116 Mojo + 66 Master
70 have Password Registration enabled: 59 Mojo + 11 Master

About 30% of DXSpider nodes have taken the commitment to stop spam😊 Congratulations to them.

I estimate that there are about 70 nodes missing which I don't have connection data for, but which I can see as a result:

196 nodes in Mojo
127 nodes in Master

There are still too many nodes with ARCAIC versions and too many that don't apply direct control over submissions.
Let's stop spam together.

Kin EA3CV
