[Dxspider-support] $DXProt::senderverify = '2'

Yes, but the user is not a problem.

The real problem is with Node or webcluster not the user.

They MUST INDICATE TO US that the USER is connected in their environment.

Thanks to several friends I understood the philosophy of this variable.

In fact, I left it by default.

set/var $DXProt::senderverify 2

It is better to have a few real spots than many with a dubious reputation.

Many times “LESS is MORE”

Greetings, Jose

I’ve just done a quick 10 minute – long enough to make a cup of coffee and make a sandwich - comparison of spots sent to a user at VE7CC-1 and spots which make it to my node (1 hop away from Dirk – pretty consistent with what shows there and at G6NHU-2). I’m sure we’re dropping a lot of legitimate spots

VE7CC – 169 spots received – only 37 also shown at GB7DXM.

GB7DXM – 57 spots – only 37 also shown at VE7CC.

There’s a short 1 hour CWOps contest running right now which generates lots of spots sourced in the US – so quite lot of the spotters are in the US. I haven’t looked at what node they are on etc.

But – there’s no doubt in my mind that we’re now dropping a very large number of what look like valid spots. It never felt to me like 60% of spots on the network were actually invalid. I can’t tell how many of these I’m losing due do the new verification function being turned on because they are being dropped upstream from me, and how many because I’m too far from VE7CC. But – in the past when I’ve compared to VE7CC I’ve not been missing much.

$senderverify is 2 by default with built 568

What appears to be fake doesn't necessarily is a real fake.

There is a rate of false positives, so DXspider is discarding a certain % of real and legitimate spots.

This is the challenge.

I’d say the recommended reaction is to feel happy that you’re not propagating spots which appear to have been faked.

Dear colleagues:

I have updated DXSpider to v1.57 build 568 both CX2SA-6 (Test node) and CX2SA-8

I have activated in the test node: $DXProt::senderverify = '2'

I do not have activated in CX2SA-8 $DXProt::senderverify = '2'

However, I see some rejections that come from IPs that would apparently be in accordance with the country of the station that sends the spots.

Thank you very much, Jose
