Here's how I have set the limits:

Both my clusters did just fine during the last two major attacks, despite being hit with 80K+ spots/minute.

Regardless of what we think the number is, I have not seen any discussions on simple rate limit settings. They work. I have implemented them long ago.

You won't expect a contest station to submit all their QSOs to the cluster - only those who they work search and pounce (and actually generally they don't do this - but could). So - at most it will be a handful per minute.

Subject: [Dxspider-support] Rate limits

There have been no discussions on setting rate limits. Does DXspider support them? How are sysops setting them?

I see value in setting two limits to account for busy contest weekends:
1/ Spotter per minute- a well staffed M/M station is likely to generate ~10-15 spots per minute across all bands.
2/ Likewise, a well equipped and active M/M station could get ~25-50 spots per minute.

These rates are much much lower during non-contest days.

Setting rate limits is a simple solution that doesn’t require end user action.
