Team Selection Policy

 

As a club we are, this season, in the fortunate position of having more
paid up players than we have playing places available on Saturdays, I
will therefore explain the criteria used when selecting teams at Monday
evening selection meetings. Our overarching policy is to give as many
people as possible hockey and select teams from a 'fairness' position as
far as is possible within league rules. To improve your prospects of
selection there are 2 actions that are  best avoided 1) appearing to be
available only for home matches or away matches nearby, and 2) calling
off late in the week!

 

Whilst the current situation continues, it will be necessary, in some
cases, to rotate players, as we cannot guarantee everybody a game every
Saturday (or Sunday), please accept this situation, however if you think
you have been treated unfairly, feel free to contact me or Mark Mills in
the first instance. Our aim is not to 'lose' any players during the
season, which will hopefully lead to the reinstatement of a Ladies 3rd
and a Mens 5th team next season.

 

Criteria (not necessarily in order) that are used when selecting teams
and individuals

 

*        Fully paid up subscriptions and match fees

*        Regular attendance at training 

*        Regular availability

*        Ability

*        Eligibility by age for specific age group teams

*        Disciplinary record

*        Call-off record

*        Other club involvement (coaching, umpiring etc.)
