Jim, Your ax25d.config looks like it should work as long as you have
port "VHF" defined in axports. I am also assuming that kissattach is
working OK, and no errors on startup. You may not be starting ax25d
somewhere in your start up directory. It needs to be in /etc/rc.d/ and
symbolic links in the /etc/rc.d/rc3.d and etc/rc.d/rc5.d directories.
You can test to see if this is your problem by typing ax25d at the
prompt while in /etc/rc.d -It will probably work elsewhere as well.

If this works you can make a new file or include ax25d in a startup file
elsewhere.
Hope this works for you. Also if you are successful, please let me know
which ax25 rpms you are using for RH7.2.
Thanks, John

$vi /etc/rc.d/ax25go

#!bin/bash
#
#/etc/rc.d/ax25go
#
#kickoff the ax25d configuration
#
ax25d
#

You can make the symbolic links to run this in different modes:

$ln -s /etc/rc.d/ax25go /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S99ax25go
$ln -s /etc/rc.d/ax25go /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S99ax25go
