[Dxspider-support] Spider Client login - Port 23 revisited

I was testing my setup for this as Dirk replied with his resopnse. I use Listeners.pm
instead of client so was curious as to if it would work or not. I first
changed my services file to point the default telnet connect to port 24.
I then added port 23 to Listeners.pm and rebooted. It did work but did
have some strange habits.
From the local machine, telnet localhost gives a system login. A telnet
localhost 23 gives a Spider login. From another linux machine on the
network, telnet bbs gives an echoed (echos 2 characters per keystroke)
login which the enter terminates with a ^M and sits there. The Spider
console shows an incomming connect but times out. A telnet bbs 23 gives
a Spider login which works as it should.
Try using the Listeners.pm method and see if it works for you. Looks
like you will still have to specify port 23 because of the echo issue.
As per the install manual, section 4.8 Telnet Echo, port 23 uses special
rules that include echo negotiation.
HTH,
(I included the files that I changed to make this work)
