[Dxspider-support] Can't enable password prompting on telnet

Well, certainly here on both the latest code and also the development
branch I am on asks for a password prompt if you set the variable as
above. I checked by copy and pasting your set/var exactly.

You are using the internal listener on your debian installation?
Passwords won't work on ax25 or connections coming in via the C client
(started by (x)inetd for example).
